The purpose and objective of the Veterans Memorial Park Commission at
this time is to formulate through our architect Della Robinson and engineer,
Mr Mike McAllister
of Mike McAllister Engineering of Mapleton, Oregon,
the final design for Phase III of the Veterans Memorial Park project.
Once these plans have been accepted by our engineer, they will be
presented to the City of Florence Planning Commission for approval.
They will then go to the Florence City Council for final approval and permits
will then be applied for.
Construction of Phase III will be done in three stages.
The first stage will be the flagpole viewing area and sea wall.
The second stage will entail the construction of the Memorial Brick Wall.
Stage 3 will entail the completion of all other elements of the designed area.
It is hoped to have all segments of Phase III completed by the end of 2006
but no later than spring of 2007.
If the City of Florence is unable to proceed with the construction of Phase II,
it is understood that the VMPC will look for additional financing
so that the boardwalk/pier, an integral part of the Veterans Memorial Park
project, is built to already approved plans.
